Okavango Delta · Etsha 13, Botswana
Day and overnight mokoro trips into one of Africa's last great wildernesses — guided by people who live it, know it, and love sharing it.
10+ years guiding · Local & international guests
The journey
Glide silently through papyrus channels and open floodplains in a fibreglass mokoro, steered by a guide who grew up reading the water. Beyond the paddling, step ashore and walk into a living village — watch baskets being woven, hear stories of traditional huts, and understand a way of life that has shaped this corner of Botswana for generations.
Pels Owl Mokoro Station sits in Etsha 13, a small village on the western fringe of the Delta. We welcome both local and international visitors, and we do things the right way — with genuine hospitality and unhurried attention to every guest.
Trips on offer
Transport to the mokoro station can be arranged for a fee. A 4×4 vehicle is required after the tarred road.
"For people to experience and learn about our country and our wildlife."
Why we started · Pels Owl Mokoro Station
About the station
Pels Owl Mokoro Station is rooted in Etsha 13, a quiet village on the western edge of the Okavango Delta, roughly 100 km from the Mohembo border crossing into Namibia and 270 km from Maun. From here, we pole guests into one of the planet's most extraordinary inland waterways.
Our mokoro trips are more than a boat ride. We explain the ecology around you — the birds, the plants, the seasons of the flood. On cultural walks, guests meet villagers, watch artisans weave the famous Etsha baskets, see traditional huts up close, and hear stories of how life here has always moved in rhythm with the water.
We keep prices accessible because we believe this experience belongs to everyone — not just luxury travellers. Whether you are Motswana or visiting from halfway around the world, you will leave knowing something real about this place.

The mokoro trip on the Okavango was incredible and our guide knew exactly where to find the nesting owls. It was worth every single pula.
